There is now a great technical advance that works via the mobile phone network. It gets around problems associated with the lack of diagnostics available in many African workshops and the fact that vehicles are working out in the field and away from a garage much of the time.
West Africa 4×4 have been working with a company developing a remote diagnostics package that continually reads your vehicle’s own on-board diagnostic system and relays the information elsewhere to assist with the professional management of your vehicle. Messages such as the oil is low or the brakes worn may not easily get back from the driver to your management team so it just gives a bit of advance warning. With the vehicle’s own system as a guide you can then go onto order the right parts required in advance… even while the car is still working.
This should extend the life of your vehicle considerably and make it far more cost efficient, safer, cleaner and a more reliable long term investment.
Not only is it watching the engine, but the management system will enable you to know what people are doing with the vehicle, exactly where it has been and even to interact if necessary.
For example for safety you can have crash alerts with a GPS location so you can be aware straight away if something happens. There are clearly emergencies that involve protecting your people but also issues with potential misbehaviour too.
The system is capable of giving you valuable information and even the ability to stop unauthorized further use (while stopped). For example, if your vehicle is being driven down a dirt track at full speed you will know………If your vehicle moves out of your compound at 2am in the morning you can know and get instantly alerted, if your vehicle is stolen you can track it down or if its parked at the beach when it should be working you will know that too.

We have experienced designers and fitters available and are happy to design and apply any artwork you require for your project vehicle before shipping it.

Regarding commercial vehicles the procedure is slightly different by providing a final vetting (to the same standards) as part of the purchase procedure.
